Mrs. Carrie Adler: Art

Carrie graduated in 2000 from Purdue University, West Lafayette with a double major in Fine Arts and Art Education.  Carrie has 8 years experience teaching at Greensburg Community High School as the full time art teacher.  In 2007 Carrie earned her Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.  The art department at Trinity Lutheran High School now offers the following courses:  Introduction to Two-Dimensional Art, Introduction to Three-Dimensional Art, Ceramics, Sculpture, Printmaking, Jewelry, Drawing, and Painting.  Carrie resides in Columbus with her husband Jeremy and son Carter.

 

Mr. John Anderson: Social Studies, National Honor Society

John is a graduate of Concordia Teacher's College, Seward, Nebraska.  He has a Masters degree in American history from the University of Nebraska.  He has taught at Lutheran schools in North Miami, Florida, and Clarinda, Iowa.  He is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour.

 

Mrs. Michelle Bauman: English, Drama, Recruitment Coordinator

Michelle is a graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. She holds a Masters degree in English from the University of Indianapolis and currently teaches two AP English courses, English Literature, Drama, and Speech. She taught English for four years in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before joining Trinity’s staff and now lives in Columbus with her husband and two sons, Nathaniel and Simeon. She attends St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clifty.

 

 

Miss. Rebecca Helmer: English, World History and Yearbook

Rebecca graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska, in 1998 with a degree in Secondary Education and concentrations in English and History.  Rebecca taught for eleven years at Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, TX, in the areas of English, Journalism, and Creative Writing.  She currently teaches English 9, English 10, and World History.  Rebecca resides in Seymour and attends St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clifty. 

 

Mr. Matt Jung: Theology

Matt graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois where he majored in language arts and minored in theology.  After many years of service as Program Director at Camp Lakeview, Matt spent two years as a Family Case Manager, and taught Language Arts for one year in a public school.  Matt joined the Trinity staff in 2010, and teaches theology to 9th-12th graders at Trinity.  He and his wife Ingrid live in Columbus with their daughter Lila and attend St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, IN.

 

Mrs. Bonnie Koontz: Business and Technology

Bonnie is teaching accounting, personal finance, and computer  applications at Trinity following her retirement after many years of  service at Crothersville High School.  Bonnie is married to Arv Koontz  and resides in Seymour.

 

Mr. Harold Miller:  Earth/Space Science

Hal is the new Earth/Space Science and Chemistry teacher at Trinity.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Warner University in Florida, from I.U. Southeast with B.G.S. and M.S. degrees, and from Carolina University of Theology in Virginia with M.Th and Th.D degrees.  Hal has taught with Ivy Tech for several years and has worked twenty years as a Medical Technologist.  Originally from New Albany, Indiana, he now resides in Columbus and is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clifty.

 

Mr. Aaron Rudzinski: Biology and Athletic Director

Aaron is a 2003 graduate of Concordia University, River Forest and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a focus in Biology and Art.  He taught at Rochester Central Lutheran School in Rochester, MN for seven years where he taught 6-8 grade science and coached basketball, soccer, and softball and served as Athletic Director for the last two years.  He currently serves as Athletic Director and teaches in the areas of biology as well as coaching boy’s basketball. He and his wife, Emilie, have two daughters, Sophia and Lydia. They live in Seymour and attend Immanuel Lutheran Church.

 

Mr. David Sandhage: Special Education and Guidance

 

David holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and United States History from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1977.  He later earned a Special Education Degree in Learning Disabled and Seriously Emotionally Handicapped from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.  David has 27 years of teaching experience and has taught in the states of Utah, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and also served in the United States Peace Corps in Belize, Central America between 1984 and 1986.  David and his wife, Cathy, have one daughter, Diana, a son-in-law, Michael, and two grandchildren, Ty and Tanner who reside in Louisville, Kentucky.  Cathy is a hospice nurse and is employed with Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.  The Sandhages are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.  

Mrs. Leah Schneider: Instrumental and Vocal Music, Drama

 

Leah teaches music at Trinity Lutheran High School and Immanuel Lutheran Elementary School in Seymour, Indiana.  She received a Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University in 1982 and a Master of Music Education from Indiana University in 1984.  She has 12 years of public school teaching experience.  She began teaching music at Trinity in 2000 and has continued for over 11 years to the present.  She and her husband, Gary, are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.  They have three children: Layna Schneider-Music Teacher at Peace Lutheran School, Saginaw, MI, and Ryan Schneider- Pre-Sem. Student at Concordia Chicago, and Lexi- 7th grader at Immanuel Lutheran School.  Leah is actively teaching in the following areas:  Choir, Band, Guitar, General Music, and Drama.

Mr. Bryan Schroer: Agriculture and Future Farmers of America

Bryan is a 1983 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture Education. Since graduation, Bryan worked in Bartholomew County with the Extension Office and in Real Estate. He continues to farm 400 acres, living on the family farm in southern Bartholomew County. Bryan and his wife, Linda, have two children Abby and Tom. They are members of St. John Lutheran Church, White Creek.

 

Mrs. Jackie Stuckwisch: Mathematics

Jackie is a 1987 graduate of Indiana University.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.  Her previous teaching experiences include 5 semesters at Trinity Lutheran School in Darmstadt, Indiana and 5 years at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, Indiana.  She is a rostered teacher for the LC-MS.  She and her husband, Jeff, are blessed with four children: Daniel, Sarah, Leah, and Matthew. She and her family attend Zion Lutheran Church.

 

 

Miss. Lindsey Trah: Spanish and Student Government

Lindsey is a 2005 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in Spanish and History. She resides in Seymour and attends Zion Lutheran Church.  Miss Trah loves to travel and leads Trinity students on a tour of Spain every other summer.

Mr. Justin Vorthmann: Mathematics

Justin graduated from Concordia, Seward in 2003 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in Math and Physics. He has taught in Cedar Rapids, IA. and St. Louis, MO, and is in his second year at Trinity. He teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Calculus, and Physics, and serves as head soccer coach. Justin is married to Abigail (Abby) and they have two children, Benjamin and Loren. They live in Seymour and attend Zion Lutheran Church.

 

Mr. Daniel Sievert: Principal

Daniel graduated with a secondary education degree in Music and Physical Education from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska in 1994.  He taught seven years at Lutheran High School North in Macomb, Michigan while earning a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.  After serving as principal for five years at Sioux Valley Lutheran High School in Lakefield, Minnesota, Daniel took the call in 2006 to be principal of Trinity Lutheran High School.  Daniel is married and has two children.  His wife, Amy, also graduated from Concordia, Seward, teaching six years in Lutheran elementary schools.  She now serves as full-time mom for their son, Nathan, and daughter Holly.  The Sieverts are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.

Mr. Michael Bridges: Development Director

Michael was called to Trinity Lutheran High School, starting August 1, 2005, as their Director of Development.  Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology, a Minor in Psychology, and a DCE Certification from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, 1992.  Prior to his arrival at TLHS, Michael served as an Advancement Officer for Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN., and at two LCMS congregations as their DCE; Gloria Christi Lutheran Church in Greeley, CO, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Holt, MI.  Michael and his wife, Mary are the parents of three grown children, Michelle Bauman in Columbus, IN, Mark Bridges in Harrisburg, SD, and Matthew Bridges in Greeley, CO.

 

Mr. Larry Cooper: Guidance Counselor

Larry graduated from Butler University in 1968 with a B.S. in Secondary Education and teaching endorsements in business education, physical education, health, and driver education.  He received his M.S. in Secondary Education in 1971 from Indiana University.  Larry has life licenses in counseling and guidance.  Larry has 37 years of experience, serving as a counselor at Seymour High School for 27 years.  He and his wife, Marilyn, have two children, Scott and Stephanie.

 

Mrs. Angie Kerkhof: Financial Administrator

Angie is a graduate of Indiana University Southeast with a degree in Accounting.  She grew up in Hayden and now lives on a farm north of Seymour with her husband Kyle and 2 children, Hannah and Drew.  They are members of Zion Lutheran Church in Seymour.

 

Mr. Mark Luedeman: Maintenance Director

Mark comes to Trinity with a background in farming, construction, and supervision.  Mark is a graduate of Crothersville High School.  He and his wife, Linda, reside south of Seymour and attend Seymour Christian Church.  Mark and Linda have six children, eight grandchildren, and a pug named Cleo.

Mrs. Kathy Overgaard: Administrative Assistant

Kathy was born in Wisconsin.  She served as secretary at St. Paul Lutheran School in Flint, MI  before coming to Trinity in 2004.  Kathy and her husband, Kim, have one son, Nickolas, a daughter-in-law, Angela, and two grandchildren, Alex and Noah.  They live in Seymour and attend Zion Lutheran Church.

 

 

Miss. Julie Wehmiller:  Recruitment and Development Assistant

Julie joins the Trinity staff as the new Recruitment and Development Assistant.  Also a Trinity alumnus, she graduated from the University of Indianapolis in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a minor in History.  She is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and resides in Seymour.
