The story of Trinity Lutheran High School began with a vision rooted in faith, community, and a desire to provide Christ-centered education for generations to come.
In October 1998, an exploratory committee was formed to study the feasibility of establishing a Lutheran high school in south central Indiana. The idea quickly gained momentum. By April 2000, thirteen congregations had voted to join the newly established South Central Lutheran Association for Secondary Education, with a fourteenth congregation joining that July.
The Association’s efforts were formalized on November 24, 1999, when the Articles of Incorporation were signed by nineteen dedicated individuals who served as the original Board of Directors. Their goal was clear: to create a Lutheran high school where students could grow in both knowledge and faith, preparing them to serve God and others.
A tremendous act of generosity soon made the vision tangible. Don M. and Emmy Lou Bollinger donated a 41-acre tract of land, providing the foundation for what would become the Trinity Lutheran High School campus.
The dream quickly became reality. In the fall of 2001, Trinity Lutheran High School welcomed its first students, holding classes at First Baptist Church in Seymour during its first two school years. As the new campus took shape, excitement continued to grow. By the 2003–2004 school year, Trinity students and staff celebrated their first full year in the beautiful new facilities on the school’s current campus.
This year, we will celebrate Founders’ Day for the first time, giving thanks for those who stepped out in faith more than two decades ago. We plan to make it an annual event honoring the faithful beginnings of our school and the ongoing mission God has set before us. In a fitting tribute to those who came before us, this inaugural Founders’ Day will coincide with the groundbreaking of our newest campus expansion project.
We invite all alumni, families, friends, and supporters to join us at Trinity Lutheran High School on Sunday, November 9, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. for this special celebration. The event will include the groundbreaking ceremony, followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
In addition, we’ll be hosting an online Founders’ Day of Giving, allowing our entire Trinity community, both near and far, to join in celebrating God’s blessings and supporting the future of our students.
Together, we celebrate where we’ve been, rejoice in where we are, and give thanks for where God is leading us next.
